Unless They are Sent

“SENT”

Romans 10:14-15

Scripture: Romans 10:14-15

How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent?

As disciples of Jesus, we are sent by the Spirit to be His missionaries. Through the example of Jesus, we understand that the same Spirit that led and empowered Him is available to us as we go out into the world to share the gospel and fulfill the Great Commission. Just as Jesus was sent by the Father, so are we sent as His representatives, guided by the Spirit's leading and filled with His power.

Imagine with me how many souls are going through the door of eternity into eternal separation from God…UNNOTICED, UN-SEARCHED, UNCHANGED …Now imagine how awesome it would be to see those same souls saved and transformed by the power of the Spirit working through you delivering the gospel so that they can enter into an eternal peace and joy.

Missions reminds us that we are SENT, that God so loved the world that He gave His Son, and now just as Christ came to seek and to save the lost, it is our RESPONSIBILITY, our PRIVILEGE and the PURPOSE of our discipleship is to make more disciples!

So Where are we sent?  — INTO ALL THE WORLD.

Jesus didn’t say …

  • GO to church
  • GO to Sunday school
  • GO to prayer meeting
  • GO to you fill in the blank

He said… “GO INTO ALL THE WORLD” (Mark 16:15)

IN LUKE 10, Jesus sent out his disciples two by two because He wanted to Release them into ministry, he did not want them to become spiritual consumers but rather spiritual contributors.

The church does not exist for us. We are the church and we exist for the world.

Who are We sent to? — TO EVERYONE.

Every Number Counts and Behind Every Number is a Story!

In the Parables of Luke 15 of the Lost Sheep and the Lost Coin, the takeaway is that every life matter, every life counts, every life has meaning, every life is valuable and Jesus will do everything to sweep, search and save the lost soul!

Why do we pray and fast?

Why do we plant churches and send missionaries?

Why do we labor in ministry?

Why do we give our time, talent and money?

Why do we preach, teach, train and equip the believers?

It’s because of People!

Lyrics from a famous Christian song called “People Need the Lord”  says:

Everyday they pass me by, I can see it in their eyes.

Empty people filled with care, Headed who knows where?

On they go through private pain, Living fear to fear.

Laughter hides their silent cries,

Only Jesus hears.

Look for opportunities to share GOD’S story….Look for opportunities to share YOUR story.

Jesus Carried the paralytic. Jesus Cleansed the leper. Jesus Comforted the Widows and Orphans. Jesus now Commissions us to reach the one no one else is reaching.

What are we sent to do? —- RECONCILE PEOPLE TO GOD.

Be Anointed to PREACH

For the Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon you to PREACH GOOD NEWS!

Be Empowered for MIRACLES.

Jesus’ ministry was marked by miracles and so were the early apostles all throughout the book of Acts.  Our preaching of the word will come with a demonstration of power.

Be Prepared for DIVINE APPOINTMENTS.

In Acts 8, Philip meets the Ethiopian Eunuch and leads him to salvation

In Acts 16, Paul and Silas in prison experience a bizarre earthquake which ends up saving the Jailer and his entire family.

Be Available with COMPASSION.

All believers are called to come alongside of other people to help in time of need.

Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. (Gal. 6:10)

On Mission means we focus our time, energy, and resources into helping others to experience that above and beyond expectations of God’s grace.

We are Sent and Commissioned to:

- Encourage one another: 1 Thessalonians 5:11 - "Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing."

- Admonish one another: Romans 15:14 - "I myself am convinced, my brothers and sisters, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with knowledge and competent to instruct one another."

- Bear one another’s burdens: Galatians 6:2 - "Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ."

- Build up one another: 1 Thessalonians 5:11 - "Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing."

- Care for one another: 1 Corinthians 12:25 - "so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other."

- Comfort one another: 1 Thessalonians 4:18 - "Therefore encourage one another with these words."

- Confess faults to one another: James 5:16 - "Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective."

- Spur one another on: Hebrews 10:24-25 - "And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching."

CONCLUSION

the Gospel of salvation has lasted over 2000 years
Its good news to those who have no food, water, medical or education
Its good news to heal broken marriages and families
Its good news to give hope to the hopeless, peace to the restless
Its good news to save and bring freedom to the alcoholic, sex addict, drug addict

Its good news to solve every social injustice, provide in every economic disaster

its good news to to destroy every deed of darkness, deception of Satan
its good news to comfort all who mourn
its good news to provide for those who grieve

its good news to call out beauty in the midst of ashes
its good news to put a song of gladness instead of mourning
its good news to ignite praise instead of despair and hopelessness

But how will they know this good news unless we are SENT TO TELL THEM!
